Annette Lankow was born, raised and educated in Hamilton New Zealand. She was always interested in all forms of art, including sketching, painting and designing. As a school teacher, she encouraged her students to develop their artistic skills and enter local exhibitions with success.
This interest was used in a practical manner with the creation of handmade, hand oainted clothing. As her interest in fabric painting developed, she discovered a new form of artistic creaivity in silk painting. This is an ancient Chinese art that involves steching the silk over a frame and applying water-based dyes, t achieve many differing and interesting effects. She enjoys the fact that two paintings will never have the same result. The extension of this was designing, painting and sewing silk jackets for exclusive ladies wear.
For the last eight years, Annette has become increasingly fascinated by interpreting nature, using dyes and mixed media on silk.
Annette has acceped individual commissions for Corporate and private work, both locally and overseas. Her paintings have travelled to USA, NZ, England, Japan and Germany. She continues to be innovative and experimental with colour, design and artistic interpretation.
