Lynn Naismith
Born in 1942 Lynn grew up in the pristine bushland setting of the Woronora River on the outskirt of Sydney. These early years instilled in her deep and lasting bond with the bush and its wildlife, but it was the birds particularly that captured Lynn's imagination and from an early age encouraged her to develop her natural drawing skills.
During the 1960's Lynn travelled and lived overseaes for several years. On returning to Australia she and her husband settled in Sydney to raise there son and daughter.
It wasn't until the late 1980's that Lynn had the time and fredom to experiment with water colours, and even though she had never received formal art training, her work soon came to the attention of Gallery directors.
A member of the Wildlife Artists Society of Australia Lynn specialises in painting Australian wildlife. Her work is exhibited in NSW, Qld, Vic and ACT and is included in collections in the UK, USA and Japan. She has received many awards at major competitions, she has held successful solo exhibitions and participated in many open wildlife exhibitions.
"Painting is now part of my daily life and although I incorporate Gouache in some of my works, I love working with watercolours and only use top quality permanent pigments. You never have total control but what an exciting medium in which to portray the brilliance of a tiny blue wren or the subtle shading of a Kookaburra's breast"
