Robert Stuart
Robert Stuart was born and raised in Sutherland. From early childhood he loved to sketch people and landscapes.
At 20 years of age Robert was successfully painting commissioned portraits of people and animals.
In 1980 Robert completed his Art Certificate Course at Gymea Tafe.
Robert often includes water in his subjects, rivers, lakes and streams rate highly in his choice of subject matter.
Roberts favourite subject is always light, whether outside painting landscapes or inside setting up meticulously planned still lifes, carefully plotting a course for the viewers eyes to follow. He sometimes spends days rearranging the subject before beginning to paint.
Robert’s portraits, landscapes and still lifes are hanging in private collections throughout Australia, The United States of America, Canada, England and Ireland. He has been successful in numerous local Art Shows and Exhibitions.
Robert is the Managing Director of Sutherland Art Gallery.
